The CAADP Kampala Summit 2025 is Here!
The African Union Commission (AUC) will host the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Kampala 2025 Summit from January 9 to 11 in Kampala, Uganda.
The theme of the conference is “One Voice, One Land”, which reflects a powerful vision for Africa’s agricultural potential under the CAADP to harness the continent’s vast resources—fertile land, diverse ecosystems, water bodies, and favorable climates—to achieve food security, improve nutrition, and stimulate economic growth.
The high-level engagement will bring together multiple stakeholders including government leaders, the private sector, farmer organizations, farmers and the general public for a three-day conference which will culminate in the CAADP Action Plan (2026–2035) and the Kampala Declaration.
Other participants will include representatives of the scientific community, academics, farmer associations, agricultural NGOs, advocacy groups, leading donor organizations and the media.
Over 2,000 participants are expected to attend the event.

Theme for next 10 year CAADP:
“BUILDING RESILIENT AGRI-FOOD SYSTEM IN AFRICA”

Background
Over the past 20 years, the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) has emerged as the cornerstone framework for driving agricultural transformation across Africa. Launched in 2003 following the Maputo Declaration and reaffirmed in 2014 with the Malabo Declaration, CAADP has contributed to notable achievements, including increased Gross Domestic Product (GDP), higher average incomes, enhanced agricultural output and productivity, expanded agricultural trade, greater investments, and significant reductions in hunger and poverty.
Recognizing the need for a Post-Malabo Agenda to advance sustainable agri-food systems aligned with the 2021 African Common Position to the United Nations Food Systems Summit, the 44th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on February 14-15 2024, tasked the African Union Commission with developing a Ten-Year CAADP Strategy and Action Plan. This initiative will culminate in the CAADP Action Plan (2026–2035) and the Kampala Declaration.
The plan seeks to leverage resources for driving economic growth, enhancing food security, and improving livelihoods while addressing the impacts of climate change, in alignment with the CAADP principles. It aims to achieve this by stimulating investment, fostering partnerships, and empowering vulnerable smallholders.

The Summit
Objectives of the summit
The main objective of the CAADP Kampala Summit 2025 is to highlight the pathways to transform African agri-food systems, focusing on sustainable food production, agro-industrialization, and trade for sustainable food production and economic transformation. The event also aims to adopt the 10-year CAADP Action Plan (2026–2035), setting a strategic direction for the next decade. The specific objectives of the conference are to:
• Bring together high level stakeholders to highlight the CAADP Action Plan and Africa’s long-term planning under the transformative Agenda 2063 (towards “the Africa We Want”).
• Deliberate on and endorse the CAADP Action Plan (2026–2035) and the Kampala Declaration.
Who Should Attend
The Summit will gather African Heads of State, high-ranking government officials, senior policy makers, private-sector players, farmer organizations, scientists and researchers, amongst many others.
